Job Title: Custodian

Classification: Non-exempt (20 – 30 hours per week during camp season; minimal hours during winter)

Reports to: Executive Director

Compensation: Starting at $13.00/hour

 

Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the camp’s buildings consistent with the mission, policies, and procedures of the camp. Be courteous and respectful when interacting with campers, staff, and guests.

Essential Job Functions:

Maintain cleanliness of facilities to ensure safe and enjoyable physical environment for campers, volunteers, staff, and guests.

  • Daily cleanings of restrooms, floors, and high touch areas being sure to restock paper products and report problems to the Executive Director.
  • Be aware of and implement safety guidelines; follow camp rules.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
  • Be aware of and make necessary changes to hazards found on property.
  • At the end of each camp session, make sure facilities are cleaned and prepared for the next session.
  • At the end of camp season, make sure the facilities are clean, equipment is inventoried and stored, and other duties as assigned to close camp.
  • Service or make minor repairs as needed to grounds keeping machinery and equipment.
  • Store and secure equipment and supplies
  • Conduct beginning and end-of-season

  • Dispose of project and maintenance trash and

Other Job Duties:

May be asked to assist in setting up for special events, locating and delivering equipment and supplies.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or its
  • 2 years’ experience in site cleaning.
  • Valid and current driving

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work on a team, relate, and work well with
  • Ability to manage and organize tasks and time
  • Ability to accept direction and supervision and comply with
  • Proficiency in the safe and proper use of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and materials.
  • Experience performing routine
  • Strong organizational and follow-up

Compensation

  • Commensurate with experience
  • Paid time off (PTO) – 10 total days per year. PTO includes sick days and vacation. Vacation is not to be used during peak camp season (mid-May through August).
  • Meals at camp during peak season.

Physical requirements include: Prolonged sitting, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate equipment and some physical activities. Ability to lift, up to approximately 50 pounds. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist guests and staff in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury). Willing to work irregular hours (if required). Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and other environmental conditions.
