Camp Horsin’ Around welcomes individuals and groups of all ages and abilities to volunteer their time and talents. Every person has unique gifts, and there are a variety of volunteer opportunities at CHA to share those. Whether a few hours, days, months, or even years, your volunteerism makes a difference for the unique campers at Camp Horsin’ Around!

Camp Horsin’ Around’s peak camping season runs from June-August, but our mission is year-round with a variety of necessary volunteer projects to keep camp in top shape! We need volunteers of all skill sets from administrative to onsite construction projects.

You may contact Carrie Truitt, Camp Horsin’ Around Executive Director, with any additional questions about supporting our mission at ex.director@camphorsinaround.org.

Camp Volunteer

These volunteers provide an extra level of support to our camper groups and work closely with camp counselors. Camp volunteers will participate as a member of the camp staff team to enable safe and fun use of facilities, activities, and other camp functions. These volunteers may choose to serve in a more generalized capacity, or they may focus on assisting with specific activities, such as fishing and kayaking.

Administrative Volunteer

Administrative volunteers support the Camp Horsin’ Around team and provides general administrative assistance. They are involved in a variety of tasks which in turn enables CHA office staff to provide support to the community. These volunteers may meet and greet visitors to the office; answer phone and direct calls to appropriate people; bind, print, photocopy, and shred documents as required; and manage documents, including filing.

Facilities Volunteer

These volunteers will work hand in hand with our Camp Director in groundskeeping, camp preparation and beautification, organization, and specialty projects. Volunteers in this role are crucial to the maintenance and running of camp. Volunteers can commit during the camp season or any time throughout the year. Facilities volunteer roles, however, are limited during camp sessions. Projects Include: Painting, carpentry, forestry, landscaping, housekeeping, and gardening.

Adopt A Staff Volunteer

Camp Horsin’ Around is seeking to match a volunteer with each staff member this summer. You will be paired with a staff member and have access to their personal likes and needs. Throughout the summer we ask that you send at least 1 care package to your adopted staff member and multiple notes (over) or messages of support and encouragement. This is a fantastic way to let our staff know just how appreciated and needed they are.

Food Service Volunteers

Food service volunteers may support the Food Service Manager with food prep, meal setup, dishwashing, and general cleanup. You may also help by circulating throughout the dining hall during meal service to ensure campers’ needs are met. Food service volunteers are critical to keeping everyone fueled for fun!
